Olympic Closing Ceremonies

That was a brilliant touch, to make fun of the pillar that didn't work in the opening ceremonies.  And then to allow Catriona Lemay Doan to light it was great.  What a neat idea.

It was great to hear Ben Hepner again.  The last time I heard him sing was at our church.

William Shatner was initially funny, but his swearing was unnecessary and lacked real class on an international stage.  Bill, you don't need a potty mouth to be funny.

Michael J. Fox made a courageous appearance, but his selfish politics have caused me to lose all respect for him. He would allow children to be killed to find a cure for his disease.  Yet in reality, the only discoveries made from stem cells have ALL be from adult stem cells.  Michael, think about others.

Then another sleazy rock group ... and more swearing ... again, no class.   Glorifying drunkenness and selfish behaviour.  Is this the best music group we could get?  Really?  How embarrassing.

Then another sleazy rock group ... singing about taking off all of someone's clothes, and and posing like Playboy.  Good ... promoting pornography.  Oh Canada.

Seems this Bilingual country has no bilingual closed caption typists.

It ended with a really bad rap, which would put anyone to sleep.

.....

Canadian GOLD

I was surprised to hear the media asking the Canadians why they were so far behind the USA in the medal count last week.  Are there only 2 countries in the Olympics?

Canada won more Gold medals than any country ever has in the history of the Winter Games.  They won 4 more Gold medals than the USA.   And we have about 1/10th the population.

Canadian Curlers - Team of 6

Yahoo.com has reported the following about our Canadian Curling team:

"As with all curling teams, Team Canada features five members.  Well, six, if you really want to get technical with it."

Why six?  Because one of the women is pregnant.  We all know that a baby is a person ... it is just nice when the media reports the facts correctly.  I guess when you decide not to kill your baby, is the only time you can call it a baby.

Olympic Condoms

I heard a report that they have handed out more than 100,000 condoms at the winter Olympics to the athletes, coaches, and trainers.

Wow.  I would rather not know facts like this, and just assume that people are acting decently.

But long gone are the days of healthy shame, and respect for one another.

Guardasil

How tragic that parenting is so devoid of character, so lacking trust and mentoring, that they assume the worst of their children.  Imagine telling your child that you don't even trust her with her own body.  They claim to be trusting, while at the same time trying to inoculate them rather than mentor them and trust them.

This is a basic question of morality.  If you teach children by example that you are nothing more than mindless baboons that cannot live in a moral way, then perhaps you do need to protect them from their own poor choices.

Here's a thought.  Make good choices.

If you went into your child's bedroom, and found her playing Russian Roulette with a revolver, which would be your response:

1 - leave without saying anything ... (apathy)
2 - take the revolver from her hand and give her a revolver with 12 chambers instead of 6 (reduce the risk)
3 - speak to her about how much God loves her, and how valuable she is.

Option 2 is the solution that the media and society and even the schools push on everyone.  Handing out condoms or getting the promiscuous vaccine does nothing but reduce the risk.  It does not protect the child, nor is it safe.   It could perhaps be called safer....but certainly not safe.

There is so much focus on the negative, that it is difficult to see the simple solution.  You concentrate on the positive, not the negative.  You do what you should have been doing their whole lives, and talking to them about God, and His plan for them, and how very much He loves each one of them.  He created them and their worth comes from Him, not from family nor friends.  You tell children that they are accidents of nature, and overdeveloped baboons, and they will start acting like them.

HPV is spreading like wildfire, and condoms have little effect against the spread of this VD ... which is the only reason they worked so hard on getting this vaccine.  Because you cannot tell people that there are dangers with acting immorally.

Winter Olympic Opening

What a disappointment the opening ceremonies were.   What they presented as typical Canadian culture was anything but typical.  Certainly foreign to most Canadians.   There was no mention of the Christian values that built this country, our laws, and our culture.  As more and more we are throwing out those values, the country has been spiraling downward in a rapid decay of morality.

I was hoping that Stephen Harper would throw out the first snowball.  Someone was sitting behind him that looked like a wild turkey had flown through his ears and got stuck in his head.

In this high-tech age, do we really need to lip-sync everything?  Nobody there would have made the podium for that skill. The mics were not big enough to hide the goofs.

Congratulations are due to Phil Robertson (a classmate in school and friend in my youth) for making the orchestra and being the drummer of choice for all of Canada. Well done Phil!

The best we as a country can do is a homosexual singing "Hallelujah"? (which means "Praise the Lord!") ...  Is that hypocrisy or irony of Olympic proportion? I spoke with a friend who thought she was a man. Let's not speculate.

It was great to see Bobby Orr - "the best hockey player of all time" there.  And my wife's classmate in high school Wayne Gretzky (a close second) as well.  Phil also went to West Humber C.I. ... makes me wonder who else at the opening ceremonies went there?

The mechanical problem with the final lighting of the cauldron has been glossed over, but it was apparent that the people standing there were upset with the problems.  The replays have been cropped so you cannot see the hole in the stage, and they just show the top becoming lit.  If they didn't have the outdoor one with all 4 pillars people may not have even noticed there was a problem.  It reminded me of the SkyDome opening, where the roof did not close fast enough and the rain hit the stage and the dancers were slipping and falling.

There was a speech where someone said that young Olympic athletes are the role models and hope for people all over the world.  Really?  Hope?  They are just people with the same faults as any other person.  Some are cheaters, use drugs, foul language, steroids, etc.  The message many portray is win at all costs.  This is not the message to send to young people.  They need role models with character.

It was wonderful that they had a moment of silence to remember the man who died earlier that day.  Too bad the gospel was not presented as well.  Jesus is the hope for all mankind.  Not athletes.  There are no guarantees for tomorrow ... no matter what your circumstances nor age.

Boston Legal - ethics on abortion.

I watched an episode if Boston Legal recently where there was a young Chinese girl who was pregnant and wanted to abort her baby.  Her mother thought she would be traumatized for the rest of her life and would not give her consent.  The young girl would now need a legal "bypass" to bypass her duty to honour her parents.  Of course the law is there for allowing you to dishonour your parents.

The Shirley Schmidt character (played by Candice Bergen) was not comfortable with the case, and didn't think the state should be superseding the will of the parents in a family matter.  She also hinted that her character had had an abortion in the past.  No doubt her remorse and regret was what she was trying to save this girl from.  Then she found out that the baby was only being destroyed because the girl discovered she was female.  After Shirley requested to be removed from the case, and denied ... she stood up in court and gave this speech:

"In addition to being Kim's advocate, I'm also a woman.  It is my opinion that my client seeks to terminate this pregnancy because the child she is carrying is female. As a matter of public policy the abortion laws were intended to liberate women, not eradicate them.  Sex selection should shock the sensibility of this court.  In India almost 500,000 female babies are aborted every year because the gender is considered inferior.  In China it's become epidemic, and according to our own census polls - U.S. born children of Chinese parents tend to be male.   It's female infanticide.  It is sexism, it is vile, and I am not going to be part of it.  I am not going to stay silent while we let the abortion license be exploited to accomplish the Holocaust of women."

Well, I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised at the language chosen.  For once a show is acknowledging that the baby is a life, and that it has value.  She actually said "the baby that she is carrying".  Usually they call the baby a fetus, as if calling it that makes it easier to "eradicate" them (to use her words).    They acknowledge that abortion was legalized to "liberate" women so that they could fornicate without responsibility,  and be 'free' of adult responsibilities.  How little they value the worth of a woman.

And of course, if life did not begin at conception (as science has now proven - with unique DNA), then she could never call it "infanticide".  Of course to Shirley only female babies appear to have value, but it is certainly a step in the right direction.  You are allowed to eradicate boy babies, just not girl babies.

Well done to the creators of Boston Legal for presenting such a solid and direct argument for valuing life.  You addressed the psychological well-being of the mother, the pain it causes the mother and all family members, the seriousness of this issue (calling it infanticide), the incredibly large numbers of babies being eradicated around the world, and the lack of legal protection for the pre-born.  The song in the background ... "the times are a-changing" ... was also encouraging to hear.  Let's hope that they are a-changing for the better.

Unfortunately, the baby girl was not protected by her mother, nor the state, and the girl won her motion to eradicate this one baby girl - to the dismay of her grandmother, and Shirley - and the baby girl who died of course.  We hear at the end, the Alan Shore character admit that he eradicated two of his own children.  How very sad.  The show ends there, but what we won't see is the mother's struggle with the consequences and remorse of her action for the rest of her life.

Yes, it is thankfully a fictitious event, and all 4 babies mentioned in it that were destroyed were not real, but the seriousness and the numbers are real and were even understated here. And they did not present the Gospel, so the hope that is available was not shared.

CNN won't report on 2 Christian ministers murdered in Florida

I heard about this event while watching the Michael Coren show.  I searched CNN for the names of the victims, and like other "news" media they are not reporting on this.
Why?  America really does hate Christians.  And Florida is the state that starved a handicapped woman to death in front of the whole world.

Here is the story: (Link to story here)

According to the Boynton Beach police, simply sharing the word of God on the street is what brought two ministers to the man who killed them. Tite Sufra, 24, and Stephen Ocean, 23, were shot and killed Saturday night after meeting Jeriah Woody, 18. They witnessed to Woody for fifteen minutes when he got a phone call and told the preachers he 'had to go.' As they walked away, Woody suddenly started walking back toward them. Sufra walked up to greet him and was killed with a shot gun blast at point blank range. When Ocean ran, he was shot in the back. After he fell, Woody shot him in the head execution style. Woody was arrested Wednesday and is charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

"As of today, there are no national news organizations reporting this vicious murder of two innocent Christian men. Why?" Cass said, "I'll ask this: If two Muslims, or two feminists or two homosexuals were murdered, wouldn't the media be all over it? These were two fine young black Christian men shot by another black man for their Christian faith, yet the media does not seem to care."

Cass continued: "It is an ominous sign of our times that Christians are being shot on the streets and in our churches. Last year Jim Pullion was killed while holding pro-life signs in front of his granddaughter's Owasso Michigan high school. Rev. Fred Winters was murdered while preaching in his pulpit in Maryville, Illinois. Increasingly we see Christian ministers threatened and churches terrorized and vandalized for their stand on marriage. Now when Christians gather for worship they must have armed security. Anti-Christian defamation and bigotry has helped to create this violent climate and it must stop."

Definition of a BIGOT:

.
Someone who is winning an argument with a liberal.
.

Planned Parenthood

.
They threatened to sue CBS, over the Super Bowl ad promoting life, because they are so outraged that someone would choose one of the choices that the pro-choice people are supposed to support.  They were outraged even though the ad does not even mention abortion. They too are not pro-choice at all, they are pro-abortion.  No surprise to anyone is it?

Their name makes you think that their goal is to help parents plan for the arrival of their new family member, conceived and growing in the safety of their mother's womb.  Yet, everyone knows it is the opposite, as their threats bear out.
.

Oh, the irony.

Did you hear the clip of the kid that married Demi Willis - where he said "Tim Tebow should just play football.  Nobody cares what he thinks about abortion."

That has to be one of the stupidest things I've heard anyone say.  Hey kid - if you didn't care, then why are you so upset about it and why are you even whining about it?  You're not only dishonest, but you're also a hypocrite.  Surprise, surprise - a hypocrite in hollywood. Why didn't the interviewer tell him to "just try to act.  Nobody cares that you promote abortion.".

Yet again proving that these so-called "pro-choice" people don't allow choice at all.  They are really pro-abortion.  They just are not honest.  But what would you expect from people that make a living from mocking Godly values, and perverting the true meaning of love?

This is kid is angry - no doubt because Tim Tebow represents the character and values of what a real man is.  What a contrast to this whiny hypocrite.

Tim, regardless of who feels really poorly about their own life when contrasted with what you represent ... don't let it get to you.  You will be persecuted by those living in darkness.  Their anger is at themselves.  They lash out at you, for having the courage and integrity that they wish they had.

Blessings.
