Christopher Hitchins ... dead reckoning.

The world famous atheist is dead.

He spent his entire life fighting against something he claims didn't exist.  Let's think about that for a minute.  How many people do you know who would spend their life fighting against the belief in a flying spaghetti monster?

Nobody.

So why did he do it?  Why was he so passionate and profane in his attacks against God, while at the same time claiming he didn't even believe He existed?

He actually admitted why on a radio interview he did with Todd Friel. He said that he wanted to live his life his way without any accountability.  And so he did.  (As did Frank Sinatra who even wrote a song about it.)

So there you have it ... he denied science, history, ethics, biology, and logic ... just to live the way he wanted to.  Sounds a lot like the same sin as in the Garden ... how little man has changed since creation.

Sadly, Christopher has now learned how foolish he was, and how dear the consequences for our sin.  We can hope that before he died he repented and trusted in Jesus, but he was kicking and screaming his hatred towards God until the very end.  So sad.  Kind of like someone standing in a train tunnel, feeling the vibrations, seeing the bright light, and feeling the fast breeze approaching, while the whole time screaming that there is no such thing as a train.

The instant of impact there is realization and regret.  We don't take pleasure in his eternal suffering, but he had many, many opportunities to repent.  He has left a legacy of hatred, pride, and lies that have the potential of leading many people down into that train tunnel of hopelessness and despair.

What a tragically sad, destructive life.

A lesson for us all ... how not to live.

First Solo Flight ....

On this day, in 1987, I performed my first solo flight from Buttonville Airport (YKZ).

That was 24 years ago!  Wow … and yet, it is so vivid in my mind still.

It was perfect weather, and I remember my flight instructor Richard, after I did a couple of circuits, he got out of the plane, and reached in to get the mic.  He said to the controller “Taxi for first solo”.  I felt like everyone in the airport was looking at me.  LOL

They cleared me to taxi, and I remember waiting for what seemed like a very long time.  Had it been anything but a first solo I am certain they would have cleared me to take off several times before they did.  It was like they wanted nobody around … I remember my legs nervously shaking as I was strongly holding the brakes.  A plane touched down, and I was cleared to take off.

All of my training up to that point was on a Cessna 150.  For the first time we were in a 152.  They are very similar, but the 152 has a little more power and they have different flap configurations.

They tell you during your training that on your first solo the plane will leave the ground a lot sooner, since you are for the first time flying about 200 pounds lighter.  That, coupled with the increased horsepower of the 152, and it was amazing how soon the plane left the ground.  Once I was in the air I was not nervous at all, and I just followed my training.   It was a textbook circuit.  I was then instructed to taxi back to the tie-down since they only let you do one solo circuit your first time.

It was quite an achievement for me.
A lifelong dream realized.

Dr. Death ... dead ... at last.

Serial killers are getting more and more popular these days.  They even give the "Order of Canada" to one of the worst serial killers in the country.  What a demented world that celebrates mass murder.  The government even pays for the murders.  Oh, Canada?

Dr. Death will not kill anyone else.  70% of his victims were disabled.  It takes a big man to kill a disabled person, doesn't it?  I'm glad he spent years in prison, but that is a party compared to the justice God will be inflicting on him for eternity.

If you are not in heaven being a praise offering you will spend eternity in hell being a burnt offering.

Good Friday ... now Earth day?

Is it really surprising that a secular Godless world would choose to worship the creation rather than the Creator?  (Rom 1:25) How sad.  And very sad for a company like Google who chose the new pagan worship day today instead of the single most important day in the whole year for each and every person on the earth.

The day that Jesus chose to sacrifice Himself to the most brutal of torture, mocking, spitting, whipping, beating, and finally being nailed to a cross.  Why did He do this?  Why would God come to this Earth He created?  He came to seek and save the lost.  That's you.  That's me.  Well, that was me.  I was lost ... living in darkness.  Unaware of my wretchedness.  But - praise God - I am no longer living in darkness.  I am no longer skipping down the broad road to destruction.

Good Friday ... the day that the sins of the world - for the "few" who would repent and trust in Jesus - were taken upon our Lord.  An event so magnificent that all of our dating is based upon it.  An event that on the 3rd day was confirmed by the miracle of a bodily resurrection, witnessed by hundreds of people.  This event so transformed the world, that even thousands of years later ... is impacting the lost in a profound way.

Please take some time this Good Friday to appreciate His sacrifice for you.

Church of Climate Change

The current religious movement that worships "mother earth" instead of "Father God", and uses worship of the environment and the fictitious "global warming" scam to replace the worship of our Creator and Saviour God, had one of their international worship services at the U.N.

The executive secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change offered up a prayer to a pagan moon goddess during her opening statement at a UN climate conference in Cancun.  Christine Figueres invoked the ancient jaguar goddess Ixchel, noting that Ixchel was not only goddess of the moon, but also “the goddess of reason, creativity and weaving.  May she inspire you, because today you are gathered to weave together elements of a solid response to climate change, using both reason and creativity as your tools.”

TV Ads

Am I the only one that e-mails companies when they air insulting things?
I am guessing not too many people do, since it keeps happening.

The worst, of course, is seeing the name of God abused (3rd commandment).  Notable repeat offenders of this are:

Best Buy
Kia Motors
Ikea

Best Buy is by far the worst.  Each year around Christmas they air commercials where they repeatedly scream out abuses of the name of God.  How ironic that they do this during the season to celebrate His name, not dishonour it.  I e-mail every year, and they still air them.  They always reply that nobody else complains.  I think that is saddest of all.   That the 3rd commandment is broken so often that people don't even recognize it.  I even hear people in my church doing this.  I hope that my conscience never gets so seared that it does not notice when His name is being abused.

Now there is a commercial from Purina that uses the expression "Thank Dog!".  Reducing God to the level of a mutt.

And of course you have just the plain insulting commercials:

Kia Motors - reducing women to sex perverts while insulting the police

Homosexual Suicides

All suicides are tragic.  They indicate that people are without hope.  Hope is the one thing that the Gospel gives to everyone.

But then all the people wanting to use suicide as a weapon in their political cause come out of the woodwork, looking for ammunition in their zealousness.

Lots of teens have issues.  Many of these issues cause them to act out in certain ways.  Many teens are not taught that they were created by God and are unique and loved by Him.  Many are not taught about morals, the law, heaven, hell, and their eternal souls.  Many are taught that they are accidents of nature, the result of random goo, the descendents of rocks.  Not uniquely created with purpose and an eternal destiny.  Others have medical issues and suffer from clinical depression.

Now, when their meaningless existence is questioned, and they find no answers, some tragically take their own lives.  Then people start trying to figure out why, and then they make assumptions to suit their own political agenda.  If the teen was struggling with sexuality the homosexuals will claim that the reason they took their own life was because they were homosexuals.  Although we have never lived in a time where homosexuality was more embraced and celebrated (sadly).  They don't look for the reasons for their stuggles, they use one thing from this person's life to claim as the reason.

What caused the sexual struggles in these teens?  Was it divorced parents?  Abusive or missing father figure?  No, you cannot criticize abandoning your covenants to your spouse and children.  That could not be the cause!

Was it being picked on at school for their body type, or their weight?  No, that could not be it.

Was it feeling left out at school, and not having a church community that would embrace and uplift the child regularly?  No, that would mean making an effort to spend time with the child around loving families.

Was it the constant criticism from the parents for not getting higher grades, or doing more around the house, without any praise for the things they did well?

It seems like so many people look to homosexuality, and blame that rather than the cause of it.

This is a serious issue.  We need to stop being politically correct, and look at the REAL causes of the problems, not attcking the symptoms.  Let's raise these children with the hope and promise of eternal glory.  The knowledge that God created them and loves each one of them more than they could ever realize.  Get back to the basics.  Honour God.  Honour your covenant to your spouse. Honour your children.
